About Us

Jenman African Safaris is a family-run business with brothers Garth, Brendan and Andrew Jenman having grown up in Southern Africa and spending well over a decade exploring the region, travelling and working in the hospitality industry. Their camping division, Campwild Tours and Safaris, was created in  1993 . Since then the company has grown at a steady pace and has achieved a reputation for reliability, safety, high service standards and excellent value for money. With time, the brothers diversified their product range and, catering to their customers needs, started running scheduled as well as tailor-made Lodge style safaris. Thus in  1998  Jenman African Safaris was founded as the holding company and Campwild Tours and Safaris became Jenman's camping division. In  2005  the brothers once again saw a gap in the market for exclusive upmarket tailor-made lodge-style safaris and they created African Luxury Hideaways with Andrew Jenman heading up this division.

Their philosophy: To provide comfortable, more personal and interactive, holidays. Jenman African Safaris has positioned itself to be able to provide their customers with the product they require, whether it’s a budget or an upmarket holiday, catering for those who are looking for a value-for-money experience.

What makes Jenman African Safaris different:

- A small-group policy (max 10 clients) on scheduled tours.
- Leaders in tailor-made travel throughout Southern and East Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands. (No matter how little or great your needs may be)
- Cater for larger groups on customised itineraries.
- Specialists in family holidays (discounts for children on request).
- Cater to everyone's needs from camping, lodge, family, scheduled, tailor-made and special-interest travel.
- More focus on the wilderness and culture.
- A pledge to minimise the intrusion on local cultures.
- A more personal atmosphere than larger group safaris and tours.
- Committed to eco-friendly and sustainable, responsible tourism in all our operations.
- Make use of local qualified guides from the specific regions in which we operate.

Managing Director

Garth Jenman

“I founded Jenman African Safaris in 1993 with one vehicle, guiding walking safaris in the lower Zambezi, Mana Pools. Since then Jenman Safaris has expanded into 14 African countries, we have employed many more staff, and today most of our partners know me personally around the globe.

Travel in Africa has always been a passion of mine, and fortunately my personal interest and work life are combined. Nevertheless, my team and I never forget that we are arranging your holiday – often a once-in-a-lifetime experience that you have looked forward to, for years in some cases. Hence our company slogan is; Africa: Your Adventure, Our Expertise.

Every season the positive feedback from our clients and agents around the world overwhelms me and motivates all of us at Jenman Safaris to carry on, setting our quality standards higher each year. Today, we not only offer affordable solutions for your once-in-a-lifetime Africa experience, but operate lodge safaris, custom-made honey-moon packages and most other travel related arrangements in Southern Africa, East Africa & Madagascar.”

I look forward to many more years of welcoming you on an African experience you will never forget.

Tourism Management
History and Experience:
I first became a "believer" in tourism when I took the subject in high school! I completed my 3 year National Diploma in Tourism Management in 2009 and spent time working at Summer Camp USA in Massachusetts for 7 weeks and travelling to NYC - Which was the beginning of "travel bug syndrome"! I joined Jenman Safaris because I felt that I needed a new challenge and with the exciting prospects that Jenman offered I was happy to become part of the 'team'. Here at Jenman, I have already had the opportunity to explore the landscapes of Namibia, The wildlife of Botswana & the Hospitality of Zimbabwean people.
Favourite African Destination:
I'm a Cape Townian through-and-through! But my favourite African destination is Botswana, the most surreal experience one could encounter with its magnificent sunsets, wildlife and warm hearted people. I would love to visit Madagascar to play with the lemurs! And Mozambique - sipping cocktails on its sandy beaches.

After school I studied for a Bachelor of Fine Art at Natal University, but the ocean won and I left to become a scuba diving instructor. This was my life for 16 years and led me to become involved in the Tourism Industry, which I absolutely love! I worked with my husband in Egypt for a while, teaching diving and then hiked from Nairobi, Kenya to Sodwana Bay on the Northern KZN Coast in order to truly experience Africa…

Product Manager of Southern Africa and Madagascar
KIRSTY PERRING

Special Subject: South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Botswana
Languages: English and Afrikaans
Qualifications: Cotac 1 Travel Diploma, Public Relations Diploma
History and Experience: I have been in the travel industry for 15 years now, and have been fortunate enough to experience all aspects of it, from working in a leisure travel agency, to dealing with corporate accounts in London, being the HOD of the Africa department at a large tour operator, to setting up the training department.  I even found myself as far away as Canada actively selling Africa to the North American market.  I am happy to say I am back on home soil and loving my new challenges and product role at Jenman African Safaris.
Favourite African Destination: Every place I have travelled to in Africa holds a special memory in one way or another, making it so hard to choose a favourite. So often it is the experiences that make something stand out more than just the destination itself.  How does one choose between snorkelling in the crystal clear azure waters of Mozambique to watching an African sunset in the bush listening to the roar of a lion in the not too far distance, to watching thousands of antelope prancing across the vast plains of the Masai Mara…the answer is one doesn’t.  So I will continue to travel this mighty continent and enjoy all the wonders she has to offer.
