The CedarBerg - Travel in South Africa4 Day Cedarberg Hiking: The Cedarberg Wilderness area with its wild and dramatically coloured and weathered rocks is ideal for walking and hiking and offers a range of walking opportunities from half day walks to a serious four day hiking trail. This tour is a series of half day and one day walks in the mountains and is ideal for the reasonably fit person. Climb up into the Cedarberg mountains to Algeria Forest Station. Here you enjoy quite a steep hike up to a waterfall. Return to Algeria Forest Station to relax and swim in the rock pools before continuing to Mount Ceder Lodge for 3 nights. On the second day take the enjoyable walk to the imposing monolith of Maltese Cross. In the afternoon enjoy some wine tasting at the Cedarberg Wine Estate nearby and a visit to the Stadsaal caves and Bushmen rock art paintings. On the third day you get an early start for the steep, but rewarding, climb up to dramatic Wolfberg Cracks. From here you traverse along the top through a moonscape of weird rock formations to the imposing Wolfberg Arch, and descend via Gabriels Pass. On your last morning you enjoy a delightful hike to some undisturbed rock paintings before travelling south to Ceres. From Ceres you visit the charming 18th century village of Tulbagh with its white-washed Cape Dutch houses, before returning to Cape Town in the late afternoon. |
