Cape Town Travel, Safaris and ToursThe most southwestern point of the African continent consists of spectacular scenery, including a protected nature reserve.
Situated only 50km outside of Cape Town, Cape Point falls within the Good Hope Nature Reserve. The park contains a wide range of indigenous plants, 250 bird species as well as chacma baboons, caracal and a variety of antelope. Visitors to Cape point have a range of activities to pick from: there is hiking, cycling, angling, windsurfing and plenty of sightseeing. A scenic walk leads up to the old lighthouse, from which splendid views can be enjoyed across False Bay. Those who would rather not take the steep walk, may take a ride up on the new funicular. An excellently positioned restaurant and gift shop are open to tourists. The road to Cape Point and back to the city, is lined with charming seaside villages like Fish Hoek, Kalk Bay and Simon's Town. Situated on the lovely False Bay, there are plenty of opportunities to stop for tea, browse in local shops and enjoy the sights. |
