Horse riding day trip - Cape Town SafarisKaroo Horseback Safari: Mountain vistas, winelands, fertile fruit growing valleys, horseback riding, game viewing, original rock art, wide open Karoo landscapes & excellent country cuisine all combine to make this day a total assault on the senses. We head out via Baines Kloof & Ceres - a truly awesome 2 hour drive, with breakfast on arrival at Aquila private game reserve, then saddle-up and venture out with our ranger into the biodiverse habitat of the reserve with its fynbos and endangered rhenosterbos, in search of game - blesbok, wildebeest, gemsbok, giraffe, zebra, ostrich, springbok, etc and abundant birdlife including the rare Black Eagle, Aquila, after which the reserve is named. The surrounding land is rich with the history of the San people and remnants of the Boer War - en route we will pass some ancient rock art sites. On our return we will enjoy a hearty meal cooked over the fire and served in the outdoor boma (weather permitting) or in the restaurant. Then it's back over the Matroosberg Mountains into the picturesque Hex River Valley & over Du Toits kloof Pass, with unsurpassed views across the Cape winelands to Table Mountain in the far distance. Those not keen on horse riding may choose to view in an open 4x4 game vehicle instead (min 2 pax). |
