Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve and Retreat is a privately owned wilderness reserve and is world renowned for its 130 rock art sites.  In recognition of its rich cultural, historical and environmental significance, Bushmans Kloof has been declared a South African Natural Heritage site.

Immense open plains, deep ravines, spectacular waterfalls and prehistoric rock formations characterise this ecological oasis, nestled between the majestic mountains of the Cederberg and the vast plains of the Great Karoo. 270 Kilometres north of Cape Town, unique and unspoilt, this once hunting ground of the intrepid San, is home to an incredible variety of wildlife and plant species, and is a premier spring flower destination.

Day 1: Cape Town to Bushmanskloof Wilderness Reserve
Depart from Cape Town (see directions below) to Clanwilliam and on to Bushmanskloof. The scenic drive will take about three and a half hours. Unpack and relax or take a swim in the rock pools. Enjoy afternoon high tea followed by an evening nature drive in open vehicles to experience the magnificent wilderness and environment. View some of the indigenous plains game – the rare and endangered Cape Mountain Zebra and Bontebok, Gemsbok, Eland, Black Wildebeest and others. Your accommodation will be on a full board basis in luxury en-suite rooms with private patio. [D]

Day 2: Bushmanskloof Wilderness Reserve
Embark on an early morning Rock art excursion or enjoy a late breakfast / brunch and relax by the pool or spa (treatments not included in package). Special afternoon activity programme will be presented to you by your ranger which will include mountain biking, walks in the reserve, bird watching, archery, painting, fly-fishing, canoeing or relaxing at the lodge and making use of the facilities that are available – swimming pools and private library as well as the spa. Afternoon high tea is followed by an evening nature drive or one can choose to simply do nothing but relax! [BLD]

Day 3: Return to Cape Town
Depart on a different hike to discover more examples of our fascinating open air art gallery and be enriched as witness to more of the 130 magnificent Bushman painting sites on the reserve. Or sleep in, relax and indulge with the facilities on hand. Brunch is served before you depart on your return journey to Cape Town. [BLD]
